Drawer slides are a very important part of kitchen cabinet hardware. While there are many types of drawer slides to choose from, full extension drawer slides are probably one of the best due to their accessibility. However, due to the range of motion, it also makes choosing these drawer slides a bit tricky. In this blog, Kipco Hardware reveals 4 important factors to consider while selecting these drawer slides.
The first and most obvious factor to consider is the length of the full extension drawer slide. This includes the part of the rail that goes to the end of the drawer at the back, to the rail that is visible when the drawer is opened at the front. The length of a typical full-length drawer slide can vary between 200 to 1200mm.
How big are the drawers used in a kitchen cabinet? This will dictate the selection of the full extension drawer slide. The bigger the drawer, the longer the drawer slide will have to be to offer appropriate support. Apart from this, the method of installation of the drawer will also impact the drawer slide length.
Apart from the weight of the drawer, the amount of load that will be placed on it will also affect the selection of full extension drawer slides. The greater the load, the more pressure will be exerted on the drawer slide, requiring it to have a high load-bearing capacity.
While choosing a drawer slide brand is highly subjective, the truth is, the bigger the brand, the better its quality will be. Therefore, the factors mentioned above will automatically be handled. Therefore, always go for drawer slides from major kitchen cabinet hardware brands.
