When it comes to kitchen cabinet hardware, there are innumerable options to choose from. This goes for decorative hardware as well such as pulls and knobs. Speaking of pulls, it is important to place them appropriately, such as on the opposite end of cabinet door hinges. However, it is equally important to select the right type of pull, as each has its own pros and cons. This blog compares 3 of the most common pulls in detail.
This is a classic form of kitchen cabinet hardware and is a staple in almost all cabinetry. It comprises a long and narrow bar made typically of metal and is attached to the door by both ends. It is mounted vertically for cabinet doors and horizontally for drawers. The ease of operation of bar pulls makes it one of the most popular types of kitchen cabinet hardware.
Cup pulls, also known as bin pulls, are another type of kitchen cabinet hardware that is geared toward aesthetics and functionality. Instead of a bar, the pull is in the form of an inverted cup. The user must place their hands or fingers underneath the cup and pull. Cup pulls are perfect for vintage kitchens and are also quite easier to clean than bar pulls. However, they might not fit all kitchen styles.
Finger pulls or edge pulls are perfect for a modern, minimalist kitchen. As the name suggests, they are placed like small indentations or recesses on the edge of the cabinet door or drawer. They can accessed by pulling it with a finger. Its recessed nature makes it perfect for kitchens with heavy foot traffic and reduces any instances of snagging on the pulls.
